optical illusions

• Notice three illusions in particular:
  • 1)  The dark vertical bands on both sides of the face at the edge of the eye socket . This is part of the fabric's color and makes the face appear gaunt.
  • 2)  The white beard, mustache and hair. This may be the result of amine and ammonia vapors concentrating in the hair thus increasing chemical reaction with saccharides.
  • 3)  The bright spot on the top of the head is from a water stain giving the impression of top-lighting.
