Was Walter McCrone every part of STURP?
The answer is no!
Walter McCrone has often claimed that he was a member of the team. In McCrone's words, he was "drummed out" of STURP for his conclusions. In fact, Walter McCrone refused to accept STURP’s professional standards agreement.
Walter McCrone also claimed that STURP, upon learning of his findings, confiscated his samples and brought in other scientists to replace him. The fact of the matter is that no scientists were ever brought in to replace McCrone.
The whole story is that McCrone was asked by Ray Rogers to look at 32 sample tapes. He was to return them. Finally, after he failed to return them, Ray Rogers had to travel from Los Alamos to Chicago to retrieve them.
