Variegation

Over the years, close observers of the shroud have noticed a very faint variegation of color in the cloth. This seems to be an artifact of the bleaching methods used during the manufacture of the cloth.

“Tomb models, paintings, and texts, as well as the writings of Herodotus and Pliny [the Elder], have supplied many details about the ancient industry,” writes Kax Wilson. (15)
